Under the terms of Section 23 of the Mental Health Act , the Hospital Managers have the power to discharge a patient from detention under the Act.The Mental Health Act Managers s are lay people from the local community who undertake specific duties in relation to the Mental Health Act on behalf of the Hospital Managers.Mental Health Act Managers are accountable to the Trust Board, via the Lead Non-Executive Director, but are not employees of the Trust.
